2016 is on the Horizon... NOW WHAT!

I hate that phrase, “Worry Wart. You are such a Worrior, not Warrior.” Has anyone every called you a “Worry Wart?” My husband is forever telling me, “Do not Worry,” But there are things to worry about.

We each have our own lives packed with its source of worry. Some of these are:

“Look at the failing economy, what if our retirement fund collapses?”

“What if our marriage does not work out?”

“What if we lose our jobs, where will we …..?”

Get the picture? Do any of these scenarios sound familiar because it comes out of your own mouth?

Jesus gives us such hope in Matthew 6. The entire chapter is a blessing. But I would like to focus on verses 25-34

“That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life- whether you have enough food and drink or enough clothes to wear….” (vs 25)

Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? (vs. 27)

These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly father will give you everything you need. (vs 32)

----------------------------

Look at this handsome Pelican. He rests proudly and does not give his future a thought. Why? Because His father in heaven knows about him and cares…

It’s scriptures like these found in Matthew and many others that we need to focus on when we stand at the brink of a new year.

Jesus says in Philippians 4:8:

And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

We look into this year with anticipation, excitement, feelings of insecurity at times even. However, we are believers, And we should walk as believers walk. Am I going to have times where I worry? Of course, but it’s at times like that when I will reach out to God for His peace and also fellow believers to pray that God will give us His peace.

What are some of your worries as you stand at the beginning of 2016? How can I pray for you?
